Nina Roz

Nina Roz Motivates Musicians to Stand Tall in Political Battles

Ugandan singer and activist Nina Roz has urged artists across the country to step beyond the stage and engage actively in political affairs. Speaking passionately, the celebrated performer emphasized the important role musicians can play in driving social and political change.

Known for her vibrant hits like Billboard Kipande, Nina Roz believes that artists have a powerful platform that should be used to elevate the voices of the common people. In her view, musicians hold a rare position of influence, able to spark conversations and inspire movements that address real societal challenges.

“If you are a musician who is just singing and doing nothing else, you are lost,” she stated firmly during a recent address. “You need to reach a point where you speak to and for the people and stand for those who have put you where you are.”

Musicians and the Power to Shape Society

The Sirubala singer elaborated on the unique responsibilities artists carry. According to her, musicians are not merely entertainers but are part of a “special breed of people” who command public attention. Nina Roz argued that the same energy and talent that captivates audiences through songs should be channeled toward advocating for important societal causes.

“Artists have the ability to gather people, to make them listen, to make them feel,” she explained. “Imagine using that same power to highlight issues affecting our communities. Imagine how much change we could influence if we raised our voices together.”

In her appeal, Nina Roz called on her colleagues in the entertainment industry to view activism as part of their duty to their audiences. She believes fans would be proud to see their favorite stars stepping into the political struggle, not just to criticize but to actively participate in shaping a better future.

“I genuinely think that all fans would want to see their favourite musicians joining the political struggle,” she said. “It is a way of giving back to the fans — by showing that we are standing with them in their struggles. If we keep quiet, it’s selfish. It’s like saying everything in the country is okay when it’s not.”

Preparing for a Political Career

Nina Roz is not content to simply speak from the sidelines. In fact, she has set her sights on a direct political role. In 2023, she publicly confirmed her intention to contest for a parliamentary seat in Uganda’s 2026 general elections.

She plans to represent Sembabule district, the place she calls home, under the banner of the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP). Her decision to run was fueled by what she describes as a lifelong yearning for meaningful change in her country.

“I joined the struggle to seek change because, in all the years I have lived, I have never seen change in my country,” she said. “Enough is enough. It’s time for young voices to rise.”

Identifying strongly with the politically conscious generation led by figures like Bobi Wine, Nina Roz sees her candidacy as an opportunity to serve the very people who have stood by her throughout her musical journey. To her, political engagement is a natural extension of her commitment to representing her fans and fighting for a more just society.

“I want to be the voice of the voiceless,” she declared. “I want to fight for the rights of ordinary Ugandans and make a meaningful impact in my community.”

The Road to Sembabule

Sembabule district, located in Uganda’s central region, holds five parliamentary constituencies. It is currently a politically mixed area, with representatives from both the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the opposition. Nina Roz sees this political diversity as a sign that change is possible, and she is determined to be part of that movement.

Her campaign, she says, will focus on issues close to the heart of her community — access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for the youth and marginalized groups. She also plans to advocate for greater freedom of expression and participation in decision-making processes, especially for the younger generation.

“This is not just about winning an election,” she said. “It’s about building a future where people are heard, where leaders are accountable, and where change is more than just a slogan.”

A Call to Artists Everywhere

Nina Roz’s message is not just for Ugandan musicians, but for artists across the globe. She believes that creativity and activism are deeply connected and that artists must recognize their ability to influence society beyond entertainment.

She emphasized that taking part in politics does not necessarily mean abandoning music or art, but rather enriching it by adding layers of meaning and purpose. “Music itself is political,” she said. “Every song, every message carries power. We just need to be intentional about how we use it.”

As Uganda moves closer to the 2026 elections, the presence of figures like Nina Roz signals a broader shift: a generation of young people, artists included, who are no longer content to sit on the sidelines. They are ready to step up, to lead, and to demand a better tomorrow.

In Nina Roz’s eyes, political participation is not just a right — it’s a duty. And she is inviting her fellow musicians to rise to that challenge, to lend their voices not just to melodies, but to the movements that shape nations.

Lil Wayne Admits Super Bowl Dream is Gone After Being Overlooked for Kendrick Lamar

Lil Wayne has officially closed the chapter on ever performing at the Super Bowl.

Despite years of dreaming about the opportunity, the rap legend says he no longer has any desire to take the Halftime Show stage, citing deep disappointment with how the NFL handled this year’s event.

Lil Wayne’s Disappointment Over Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show

In a candid new interview, Wayne made it clear that the NFL’s decision to select Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for the Super Bowl Halftime Show shattered his dream.

In his own words, the NFL “stole” the moment from him.

For Wayne, it wasn’t just about another high-profile gig; it was about representing his hometown on the biggest stage possible. When he learned that Kendrick, not him, would be leading the show, he didn’t hide his feelings — the disappointment was personal and profound.

A Personal Dream for Lil Wayne

The Super Bowl held extra weight for Wayne because this year’s game took place in New Orleans, the city that raised him and shaped his identity.

Being a lifelong sports fan and a local hero, Wayne had envisioned himself representing the city he loves so much.

When Kendrick Lamar was announced as the headliner last fall, Wayne understood that his moment had been taken.

This wasn’t just a missed opportunity — it felt like a betrayal.

Wayne had spoken openly about how much performing at a New Orleans-hosted Super Bowl would mean to him.

Instead of celebrating a career-defining moment, he found himself sidelined from an event that was deeply personal.

Moment Gone for Good: Lil Wayne’s Reflection

In a cover story with Rolling Stone published on Thursday, April 17, Wayne admitted that the window has closed permanently.

“The moment is gone for good,” Wayne said.

“Every time I looked, there was nothing that made me want to go inside and see what was going on,” he added. “They stole that feeling. I do not want to do it. It was perfect.”

For Wayne, it’s not about resentment — it’s about accepting that a dream he had cherished can no longer be realized the way he once imagined.

NFL Encourages Lil Wayne to Be More Visible

In the interview, Wayne peeled back the curtain on the behind-the-scenes process that unfolded before the NFL’s decision.

He revealed that the league encouraged him to be more public and involved in high-profile events in the months leading up to the announcement.

“To perform, there are many things they tell you to do and not do, asses to kiss and not kiss,” Wayne explained.

In an effort to boost his visibility, Wayne attended events and mingled with celebrities in ways that were totally out of character for him.

He showed up at Michael Rubin’s famous all-white parties, appeared at gatherings with NFL legend Tom Brady, and participated in the type of highly publicized social scenes he typically avoided.

“All of that was for the NFL,” Wayne said. “You had never seen me in those settings before. I am not Drake. I am not out here smiling everywhere. I am in the studio, smoking and recording.”

Wayne’s efforts to position himself as a serious contender for the Halftime Show went largely unnoticed by those making the final call.

NFL Gives Lil Wayne Vague Explanation for Snubbing Him

Despite playing the game and stepping outside of his comfort zone, Wayne said the NFL ultimately offered no real justification for passing him over.

“They just told me, ‘We are not in charge of the Super Bowl halftime show,’” he recalled.

Wayne described the experience as being “curved,” meaning dismissed without a real explanation.

Faced with that, he realized there was no point in pursuing the dream any longer.

Rather than harbor bitterness, Wayne seems to have decided to simply move on.

Lil Wayne’s Continued Presence and Upcoming Album

Even though he didn’t perform at the Halftime Show or attend the Super Bowl itself, Lil Wayne’s presence was still felt during the broadcast.

He appeared in a Cetaphil commercial aired during the game, which cleverly teased the release date for his highly anticipated upcoming album, Tha Carter VI.

In the Rolling Stone cover story, Wayne also shared exciting details about the project.

Tha Carter VI will feature an impressive roster of collaborators, including Miley Cyrus, Bono, Andrea Bocelli, Machine Gun Kelly, Elephant Man, and Wayne’s 15-year-old son Kameron.

Production-wise, the album taps the talents of Wyclef Jean, Wheezy, and possibly even Kanye West.

Wayne seems focused on moving forward, pouring his energy into the next chapter of his career rather than looking back at missed opportunities.

Although his Super Bowl dream didn’t materialize, Tha Carter VI promises to remind the world exactly why Lil Wayne remains one of hip-hop’s most influential and enduring artists.

TORY LANEZ RISKS REPERCUSSIONS AFTER ALLEGEDLY SABOTAGING MEGAN THEE STALLION DEPOSITION

Tory Lanez could be found in contempt of court after acting out during a deposition for Megan Thee Stallion‘s defamation lawsuit against YouTuber Milagro Gramz.

Megan’s Lawyers Visits Tory Lanez in Prison for Deposition

According to a filing on Wednesday (April 16), Megan’s lawyers recently visited Tory in prison to obtain his deposition ahead of the upcoming civil trial.

During the meeting, however, Lanez — who is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan in 2020 — was “disruptive, inflammatory and inconsistent with the basic norms of civil litigation that even his own counsel […] disavowed it,” the filing says.

It alleges that the Canadian rapper pretended during the deposition that he didn’t know words such as “discuss,” “approve” and “meet,” and aimed “petty, misogynistic jabs” at one of Megan’s lawyers regarding her hair color and appearance.

Because of Lanez’s behavior, the deposition was terminated shortly after it began.

Megan’s legal team are subsequently asking the court to find Tory in contempt and impose “meaningful sanctions” on him — a move that even Tory’s own counsel are not opposing.

Megan Thee Stallion sued Milagro Gramz (real name Milagro Elizabeth Cooper) last October for cyberstalking, emotional distress and promoting an “altered sexual depiction” after sharing deepfake pornographic content of her online.

She alleges that Gramz was paid by Tory Lanez to spread lies about her and cast doubt on her credibility in the shooting case.

Megan even cited payments totaling $3,000 from Tory’s father to Gramz when she filed for (and received) a restraining order against the rapper for harassment earlier this year.

Gramz initially responded to the lawsuit by writing on X: “Countersuit gone go crazy.”

She also reacted to being characterized as a “paid surrogate” for Lanez: “I den went from being ignored to an alleged employee, deum y’all taking me too fast.”

Earlier this year, Gramz started a campaign to try and raise $100,000 to fund her defense against Megan, claiming that the courts are being “weaponized” against her to “silence dissent.
