He said ““If anybody can give you a hit at the last minute, it’s Pharrell and Chad and The Neptunes,” Luda explained. “He throws on this beat, and I’m vibing to it. I’m thinking it’s cool. I’m not like thinking, ‘This is a hit… I did not know that it was the hit that it became.”

Ludacris Set To Be Awarded An Honorary Diploma From Georgia State University

Ludacris made his mark on Georgia music history as a regular on Atlanta’s Hot 97.5 (now Hot 107.9) before launching a multi-platinum career in Hip Hop and Hollywood. The former Chris Lova Lova will get a degree from Georgia State University. This is coming more than two decades after he last stepped foot on the campus as a student.

The Georgia Board of Regents authorized the musician receiving an honorary Bachelor of Science degree in Music Management on Wednesday (April 13), according to the school.

“We are proud that Chris Bridges got his start at Georgia State,” Georgia State President M. Brian Blake stated. “He has gone on to become a cultural and philanthropic icon, representing Atlanta and giving back in many ways. Our students in the Creative Media Industries Institute (CMII) and College of Law have benefited from learning from his career, and we’re excited to honor him as a member of the Panther family.”

Ludacris attended the school from 1998 to 1999 before dropping out after signing a record deal with Def Jam Records. In 2019, he was named artist-in-residence at the school. He mentors students and collaborates with academics that specialize in entrepreneurship in the music and film industries.

Luda will receive his honorary degree on May 4 at 9 a.m. at Center Parc Stadium during the school’s spring commencement ceremony. The ceremony is also available to watch on the internet.
