And when they did shoot the video, they didn’t bother to inform me. These folks simply don’t seem to appreciate my genius. Everyone’s trying to ride my coattails, but let’s be real—I am the preeminent artist alive, capable of anything,” Ye proclaimed.
Unfortunately, “NASIR” failed to make a significant impact, both commercially and critically. Nas himself has acknowledged the project’s shortcomings.

“I can’t quite put my finger on what went wrong,” Nas confessed during an interview on The Breakfast Club in 2020. “I had hoped for a more profound collaboration with Kanye. We spent time together, tossing around ideas. He provided me with some beats, but they were unfinished,” Nas explained. “Kanye was juggling numerous projects at that time—Kid Cudi, Teyana Taylor, and his own album. Meanwhile, I was the only one starting from scratch, so my time with him was limited. We essentially crafted that album within the very week it was set to release.”
