Battle Rapper Pat Stay Dies At 36, Days After Releasing The Game Diss Track: Report
Pat Stay the Canadian battle rapper made haeadline last month after challenging The Game to a fight over his Eminem diss track, “The Black Slim Shady.” Although the Los Angeles rapper chose to ignore him, the 36-year-old later released a diss track of his own, titled “Warm Up,” this past weekend. But just a few days after the song’s debut, the hip-hop legend was discovered dead by a number of friends after being stabbed early on Sunday (September 4) in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
As AllHipHop reports, local police were called to the waterfront around 12:30 AM this morning after receiving a report about someone being armed with a weapon.
Authorities found a man with stab wounds when they arrived. Despite being taken to a hospital right away for treatment, the victim passed away as a result of his wounds.
Sources close to Stay have confirmed that he passed away, despite the fact that police have not yet verified the victim’s identity. Investigation is still going on, but specifics about potential suspects are currently being kept under wraps.
The news of Stay’s passing has particularly shocked the battle rap scene, and as more fans learn the tragic news, hundreds of tributes have begun to flood social media.
“I can moonwalk while wearing steel toe boots. Let Pat Stay rest in peace “The Alchemist, a well-known producer, posted on Twitter. “The god and icon of battle rap. If you know me, you are aware that I always believed he was the best. I’m in pain.”
A different mourner wrote, “I made sure to get the okay from [people] nearby before posting this. Pat Stay, RIP. We send our condolences to his family and all of his loved ones. You will be sorely missed by the BRC.”
