Tory Lanezs Lawyers Seek For His Release On Probation And Enrollment In A Abuse Program THEURBANSPOTLIGHT.COM

Tory Lanez’s Lawyers Seek For His Release On Probation And Enrollment In A Abuse Program

Tory Lanez, a hip-hop artist facing sentencing for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion, has requested probation and enrollment in a drug treatment program. His attorneys, Jose Baez and Ed Welbourn, filed a 41-page memo highlighting the rapper’s struggles with alcoholism and traumatic upbringing, which they claim contributed to his actions.

According to the memo, a psychologist who met with Tory in jail last month reported on his traumatic childhood, including violence, abuse, grief, and neglect, which led to alcohol problems. The death of his mother at a young age and living in challenging environments further affected his mental state. Even after achieving success in the music industry, Tory continued using alcohol and marijuana as coping mechanisms for unresolved childhood traumas.

Although the evidence against him resulted in a conviction, his lawyers argue that his alcohol use disorder significantly influenced the offense. The memo also emphasizes Tory’s charitable and community efforts, asserting that he poses a low risk of violent recidivism.

Despite being presumptively ineligible for probation due to aggravating circumstances, Tory’s attorneys believe his case is unusual and that justice would best be served with probation. If probation is not granted, they request a lower prison term of three years in alignment with district attorney policies.

The prosecution previously recommended a 13-year prison sentence, highlighting Tory’s callousness and indifference towards human life and how his online posts re-traumatized Megan Thee Stallion and emboldened his followers.

Tory Lanez’s sentencing is scheduled for Monday (August 7) at 10:30 a.m. in downtown Los Angeles.

Cooperating with Prosecution, XXXTENTACION’s Murderer Receives Reduced Sentence

One of the suspects involved in the murder of XXXTENTACION has received a reduced sentence after providing crucial testimony against his co-defendants. Robert Allen, 27 years old, agreed to be a key witness for the prosecution, resulting in a two-year prison term as part of a plea deal.

In the sentencing hearing presided over by Broward Circuit Judge Michael A. Usan, Allen’s seven-year prison sentence was reduced by five years, accounting for the time he had already served during the trial. Additionally, he was placed on 20 years of probation.

Allen had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed robbery in August, while cooperating with the prosecution’s case against his co-defendants, Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams, and Trayvon Newsome. The jury had previously found them guilty of first-degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon, resulting in two life sentences each without the possibility of parole or early release.

During the hearing, XXXTENTACION’s family was present, and his aunt, Deandra Ellis, expressed their satisfaction with the outcome. The prosecution highlighted the risks faced by Allen for providing information against gang members and presented testimony from law enforcement officials attesting to the danger to his life.

Boatwright and Williams were associated with the ZMF gang, a South Florida-based group formed between 2010 and 2013. The court took into account Allen’s admission of gang involvement and the risk he took by testifying against them.

Despite the reduced sentence, Allen’s defense attorney, Jim Lewis, expressed concerns about his client’s safety, stating that he would be targeted for death by the gang. Lewis argued for a life sentence but acknowledged the court’s consideration of the risks Allen had taken.

By cooperating with the prosecution and testifying against his co-defendants, Robert Allen received a reduced sentence, providing some closure to the case surrounding XXXTENTACION’s tragic murder.
