Chance The Rapper’s Tour Tales: Why Touring with Macklemore Was a Wild Ride
Chance The Rapper recently caught up with Ebro Darden to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his 2013 masterpiece, “Acid Rap.” However, amidst the celebration, Chance spilled the beans on why touring with Macklemore turned out to be quite the adventure.
In his own words, Chance had nothing but praise for Macklemore as a person and the invaluable help he received. Yet, when it came to the tour, things took an unexpected twist. Picture this: 38 shows across Europe, all in massive 20,000-seat arenas, and in some rather unconventional markets like Poland and Dusseldorf.
Now, here’s the kicker – not only did the crowd not speak a word of English, but Macklemore had already sold out all the shows before announcing Chance as the surprise opener. Talk about a curveball! It’s one thing not to want to see an opener; it’s a whole different ballgame when that opener doesn’t speak your language and adds an unexpected twist to the night.
Chance vividly recalls the experience, especially when he notes,
It’s way worse when it’s a surprise opener that you don’t want to see that’s speaking a different language and Black. A lot of negatives on top of each other for the Swedish crowds.”
In other news, Chance The Rapper is gearing up to drop his follow-up album to “The Big Day,” which didn’t receive the best reviews. However, Chance is confident that his new album, set to release in July, will outshine any other LPs hitting the scene at the same time.
So, there you have it – Chance The Rapper’s European escapade with Macklemore, a tale of unexpected twists, language barriers, and the promise of a brighter musical future.
