Kendrick Lamar’s “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” Hits A Massive First Week Sales
Kendrick Lamar’s first album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, since DAMN in April 2017, was out earlier this month. Fans had been wondering if the rapper will release a new album for five years, and on a random Monday in April, Lamar took to social media to confirm their hopes.
They did, because the 34-year-old dropped his project on May 13 and hasn’t stopped receiving accolades since.
According to Controlled Sounds, his record sold 286,000 copies in its first week, making it the year’s best-selling album. 250,000 of those 6 figures came from streaming, while 35,000 came from record sales alone.
The album included 18 tracks and featured artists such as Kodak Black, Summer Walker, Baby Keem, and others. “N95” is his highest-charting single from the album, according to Apple Music. The father of two released graphics for the famous song, which has over 16 million views on YouTube.
The musician and his label, Top Dawg Entertainment, chose “Silent Hill” featuring Kodak Black as their first song, according to recent news. The song will be on the radio rotation on May 31, allowing even more people to hear it. This may not come as a surprise to many, given that it is Apple Music’s second most popular song.
