Nicki Minaj once asked Kanye West for a Yeezy collaboration. Joe Budden recently had an interview with Nicki Minaj. The interview wasn’t released and so it was highly anticipated. Joe Budden released the interview on Tuesday (March 9). In the interview, Nicki Minaj said she once asked Ye for a fashion collaboration which he turned down.
In 2019, Nicki reveals that she asked for a collab from Kanye West after her successful partnership with Fendi.
Nicki Minaj talks about her success with Fendi which one can trace to starting in 2018 after the release of her single “Chun-Li.” “‘Chun-Li’ said ‘Fendi prints on’ and that changed everything,” said Nicki “Once ‘Chun-Li’ came out and I said ‘Fendi prints on,’ all the girls started posting and saying ‘Fendi prints on,’ so Fendi gave me a deal.”
“I told Kanye about that. I was like, ‘Hey look, I’m about to do something and I just wanted to make sure I spoke to you first,’ because you know I have so much respect for him,” Nicki said. Kanye West didn’t welcome the idea. “He was like, ‘Well, if I did something with you, I think my wife probably wouldn’t love that idea because I should be giving that to my wife instead, if I was doing a female version of the Yeezys or whatever, it probably should go to my wife.’”
