Miley Cyrus Does Stand Up for DaBaby and Wants To Learn From Each Other
Miley Cyrus (28) reached out to DaBaby (29). The rapper has come under fire after he uttered homophobic lyrics during the Rolling Loud festival in Miami. It earned him criticism from, for example, Elton John (74) and Madonna (62), who accused him of his ‘ignorance’. Miley wants to do something about that, she announced via Instagram.
“I would like to talk to you to see how we can learn from each other”
The 28-year-old singer posted a message on the social medium that was addressed to DaBaby. “As a proud member of the lgbtqia+ community, I’ve devoted much of my life to embracing love, acceptance and an open mind. The internet is a place that can instigate a lot of hatred and anger and is at the heart of ‘cancel culture’. But I believe it can also be a place where you can learn, communicate and come into contact with each other.’
She continues: ‘It’s a lot easier to ‘cancel’ someone than to forgive someone and seek compassion in yourself to perhaps change someone’s mind. There is no more room for division if we want to keep making progress! Knowledge is wisdom. I know from myself that I still have a lot to learn in any case.’
Miley addressed her post specifically to DaBaby. “Check your DMs, I’d love to talk to you to see how we can learn from each other and help each other get more understanding in the future.”
Fans are divided on Miley’s post. ‘No, someone who is so ‘ignorant’ doesn’t deserve this. You only give him attention in this way and that is exactly what he does. Exit with that guy,” one fan wrote. ‘It’s good that you bring this up. If someone grew up and brought up with these kinds of ideas, then he or she simply doesn’t know any better. Then it is only good that people stand up to make a different picture clear to him,’ says another.
