DaBaby’s Lawyers Support His Self-Defense Claim In The Walmart Shooting Footage

DaBaby’s infamous 2018 Walmart shooting, which resulted in the death of a 19-year-old, is still making headlines. Rolling Stone released an investigation into the case, discovering unseen CCTV footage from Walmart. According to the story, the film refuted DaBaby’s claim of self-defense, but his lawyer said that it bolstered his case in court.

The rapper acted in self-defense, according to the authorities, which is why he was not charged with homicide. A judge in Mecklenburg County later watched the footage in connection with an allegation of not having the proper firearms permits.

“Witnesses were interviewed and corroborated Mr. Kirk’s statement,” DaBaby’s attorney said to TMZ. “The entirety of the surveillance video was viewed and determined to corroborate Mr. Kirk’s statement … Mr. Kirk was protecting himself and his family at the time of the shooting.”

After the victim and his friend trailed him at Walmart and displayed a weapon, DaBaby told authorities he was acting in self-defense.

On Monday morning, the rapper responded to the backlash on social media. “N***as done took 30 million from me, lie on me once a week, want my fine ass BM’s to hate me, want me to lose fights I don’t start, WHAT MORE DO U WANT FROM MEEE?”

DaBaby Reacts To The 2018 Leaked Walmart Shooting Footage

DaBaby has always been a controversial person, even before he got his big break. The rapper gained headlines in 2018 after he got involved in a tragic shooting at a Walmart in Huntersville, North Carolina.

The rapper claimed self-defense in the shooting of Jaylin Craig, 19, but security footage obtained by Rolling Stone reveals otherwise. The video sparked debate on social media, and Jaylin Craig’s family has spoken out about their dissatisfaction with the police investigation into his death.

Last night, DaBaby appeared to respond to the uproar on Twitter and Instagram. He released a clip from Tyrese’s heartbreaking 2017 video during his custody battle on his Instagram page. “No disrespect to my boy Tyrese man but what y’all n***as got going on bruh??” DaBaby stated. “Somebody behind the scenes on my ass ain’t it.”

He responded to that post on his Instagram Story, where he gave a more detailed answer, implying that the video surfacing is part of a larger plot to have him fired. “Like damn bruh,” he started. “N***as done took 30 million from me, lie on me once a week, want my fine ass BM’s to hate me, want me to lose fights I don’t start, WHAT MORE DO U WANT FROM MEEE?”

Watch: DaBaby’s 2018 Walmart Shooting Footage Resurfaced Online

DaBaby was with his two children and then-girlfriend Mariah Osborne at a Walmart in North Carolina in November of 2018. DaBaby claims he was exploring the aisles when a man approached him and brought out a gun. Jaylin Craig, 19, was the man in question, and DaBaby assassinated him. Given the rapper’s account of events, it’s evident that he was attempting to suggest that he was acting in self-defense, and that his life would have been in danger if he hadn’t shot the man.

The rapper escaped murder charges after a judge determined that he was acting in self-defense. Craig’s mother, LaWanda Horsley, has maintained since the shooting that her son committed no wrongdoing. Craig’s friend Henry Douglas, who was present at the moment of the shooting, claims that DaBaby was the one who began it all.

An Investigative Report From Rolling Stone

Rolling Stone provided this information in an investigative report. DaBaby lunges at Douglas before Craig intervenes to break up the fight, according to the new CCTV footage posted by the publication. The viewpoint shifts after that, and we only see DaBaby pull out his gun and shoot Craig.

Douglas tells Rolling Stone that he and Craig saw the rapper in Walmart and that Douglas wanted to make sure it was him. After passing the rapper several times in an aisle, he became enraged and had some words for them. “That’s what eventually started it; when he took it the wrong way,” Douglas stated. “We were trying to see who you are, and he took it as somebody is looking at him with a problem.”

DaBaby is best known for his music, but his recent violent altercations have gotten him a lot of attention.

Last week, the North Carolina rapper shot a trespasser on his property and then boasted about it. He posted on Instagram, “chose not to take a n*gga life the other day & it felt great. Buddy ain’t deserve to go, I step righteously. Heal up & live my boy! Just don’t bring ya ass back.”

Before that, he engaged in a bowling alley brawl with DaniLeigh’s brother. Dani’s brother, Brandon Bills, took matters into his own hands as the two parents feuded online, resulting in him and DaBaby fighting in front of a throng of people.

DaBaby Fights With Wisdom Awute

Now it appears that the “Suge” rapper is in problems once more. His most recent transgression concerned his own artist, Wisdom Awute. A video was out on social media showing the 30-year-old hitting at Wisdom first, and the two tussling before security intervened.

This isn’t,  the first time Wisdom and DaBaby have gotten themselves into trouble. The two rappers got arrested in Miami in June for a shooting.

The cause of the brawl is unknown, and neither of the men issued a statement on the matter.

DaBaby was compelled to shoot in self-defense once again on Wednesday night. It happened when an undesirable individual trespassed onto his property in Troutman, North Carolina.

After breaching a fence around the $2.3 million house and gaining entry to the remote complex, the rapper reportedly exchanged words with the invader and shot him in the leg.

At 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the Troutman Police Department responded to a shooting call. The police discovered an intruder with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. For treatment, he was transferred to a local hospital.

DaBaby Breaks Silence On Instagram

DaBaby is believed to have cooperated with police authorities after they arrived on the scene, although his relationship with the press is strained. On Thursday (April 14), the Blame It On Baby singer broke his silence over the shooting on Instagram Stories, criticizing the way the incident was handled, notably his home location being made public.

“Media telling n-ggas business be the main reason n-ggas have fye put on em,” he posted alongside a shrug and an explosion emoji while showing an overhead shot of his Troutman property.

DaBaby also shared a video of himself putting up two fingers while driving his Lamborghini. In the video, he says, “Two of ’em.” “Two.”

The “two” could be a reference to DaBaby’s second shooting victim, following the 19-year-old man he killed in a Huntersville Walmart in 2018. The rapper claimed self-defense and was found not guilty of all charges.

The Troutman Police Department in North Carolina released a statement, but did not name DaBaby.

While the Troutman Police Department refused to name identities, Iredell Firewire360, a local news organization, claimed to have more information.

An alleged trespasser on DaBaby’s house is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

DaBaby Offers His Opinion On The Oscars Debate: “Will Smith For President”

DaBaby asked “You think you can play with a man wife? In front of him, in front of his wife?”

Will Smith slapping Chris Rock on the Academy Awards stage over the weekend is trending. Overall, comedians have lambasted Smith, fearing that the public will attack them over jokes. Also, they feared racist stereotypes will be fired off on every social media timeline imaginable. Meanwhile, DaBaby voiced his perspective on the topic, claiming that Smith is deserving of the Oval Office position.

DaBaby On Will Smith And Chris Rock Saga

According to the rapper, there is a lot of “worth” to be “taken away” from the Oscars incident. “The essential thing is that it’s simply an example of how motherf*ckas play with you on the internet, and you have to let it slip because it’s the internet,” he stated.

“You gotta let the sh*t slide, there ain’t nothing you can do,” he continued. “But when motherf*ckas see people play with you on the internet, especially if they play with you long enough, it becomes a pattern. Like, playing with you on the internet, it kinda gives some people the confidence and makes them bold enough to feel like they can play with you in person. With everybody, that ain’t the case.”

“That sh*t just really separated internet from real life. You see people play with a n*gga on the internet every day so now you think you can play with a man wife? In front of him, in front of his wife? Right there, while he’s in the same room? It don’t go like that. So, Will Smith for president.”

These days, DaBaby is involved in his own legal dispute with Brandon Bills, the rapper’s youngest child’s mother and DaniLeigh’s brother. Brandon and DaBaby became internet sensations after a video of them fighting in a bowling alley went viral.
