Dave Chappelle seems to have made a return after all the controversy that followed him after the release of his 2021 Netflix comedy special, The Closer.

According to TMZ, the comedian and his wife Elaine Chappelle traveled to Northern California earlier this weekend for the Blue Note Jazz Festival in Napa Valley, where the 48-year-old found himself performing on stage with a legendary hip-hop artist.

Alongside Snoop Dogg, the Half Baked actor entertained the gathering with jokes and small talk, but that wasn’t all he had in store for them. Chappelle once demonstrated his own vocal prowess by rapping and singing with the Doggystyle hitmaker.

On stage, the two business titans also shared a blunt, and the lyricist from California even made a joke about the father of three becoming into him.

“Snoop said Dave was transforming into himself right before his eyes the more weed he took in, and he goes on to explain that’s why he doesn’t like to toke up with that many people, otherwise there’d be a ton of Snoop Doggs running around,”  According to TMZ.

In another part of the event, cameras captured Dave and Elaine turning up as they hugged each other in the crowd, with the former clutching a drink and donning a sweater by Balenciaga.

The comedian usually mentions his wife in his stand-up routines, but we hardly ever see her face in public, so it’s lovely to see the Chappelles having a good time.

Everyone is aware of Dave Chappelle’s affinity for “cancel culture” at this point. But it now appears that he is actively attempting to cancel his own plans by opposing a $39 million housing development that would ostensibly contain affordable housing.

Chappelle has purchased 19 acres of land next to his home in Yellow Springs, Ohio in an effort to prevent a significant development from taking place there. It appears that Chappelle purchased the acreage to put some space between his existing holdings and the potential for additional construction.

In a tirade before the Yellow Springs Village Council in February, Chappelle expressed his disapproval of the additional dwellings. If the planned construction went forward, he threatened to cancel millions of dollars worth of investment in the village. Chappelle purchased a 39-acre farm in 2015 and now resides there on the outskirts of Yellow Springs in a three-bedroom home.

Chappelle has refuted claims that he opposes affordable housing. Carla Sims, one of his agents, said: “Dave Chappelle didn’t kill affordable housing. Concerned residents and a responding Village Council ‘killed’ a half-baked plan which never actually offered affordable housing.” Only 3 of the 143 properties will be used for affordable housing, she pointed out. Chappelle’s close associate and architect added, “It’s clearly not designed for the benefit of the villagers… The developers rushed the project, and got a sweetheart deal with council that was not properly vetted.”

Chappelle’s expenditure on the extra 19 acres is still unknown, but with his projected net worth of $50 million, he clearly has the money to do so.

Dave Chappelle’s assailant said he was homeless and bisexual when questioned why he came at the famed comedian.

Isaiah Lee, the man accused of assaulting Dave Chappelle during one of his shows, he wasn’t happy with the controversial comedian’s jokes because they were “triggering.” Lee said Chappelle’s performance affected him since he was homeless, bisexual, and a victim of molestation.

Lee explained to the New York Post from the Los Angeles Twin Towers Correctional Facility: “I identify as bisexual… and I wanted him to know what he said was triggering. I wanted him to know that next time, he should consider first running his material by people it could affect.”

He continued: “I’m also a single dad and my son is five,” before going on to say that he’d been homeless and that Chappelle’s jokes about the homeless offended him. “It’s a struggle and I wanted Dave Chappelle to know it’s not a joke.”

Lee pleaded not guilty to four misdemeanor charges in total, including violence and assault with a deadly weapon.

“I told him my mother and grandmother, who fought for his civil rights to be able to speak, would be upset at the things he said,” Lee continued, claiming that Chappelle replied, “Now your story will die with you, son.”

A public counsel informed the judge that the defendant’s right arm was in a sling and that he had fractured it during the Hollywood Bowl beating. Lee got stretched out after his attack on the comic.

Lee’s bail is set at $30,000. If he can pay it off, he’ll be with a protective order that mandates him to “stay at least 100 yards away from the Hollywood Bowl, Dave, and any other venue at which the comedian performs.”

Dave Chappelle stated that he urged security at Tuesday’s event to let him meet with his attacker before he got dragged away so he could get some answers. According to reports, the young man stated that he hoped to obtain “attention for his grandmother who he said she got forced out of her neighbourhood because of gentrification.”

Lee’s felony charges got dismissed by Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon. Who referred the case to the City Attorney. And charged him with assault with a weapon and unlawful entrance to the stage area during a performance.

Lee faces up to 18 months in county jail if convicted, though it’s probable he’ll serve less.
