Dave Chappelle Assaulted On Stage At The LA Festival Show
Dave Chappelle attacked on stage by a man armed with replica gun according to the police. He rushed to the stage and tackled the comedian while performing at the Los Angeles comedy festival on Tuesday.
Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the attack early Wednesday. According to police, the man who stormed the stage armed with an imitation gun that can fire a knife blade.
The man climbed to the front of the stage and raced toward Chappelle in several videos and descriptions posted online. At least one video depicted the comedian collapsing to the ground, with many others racing to arrest him.
The assailant, who was a member of the audience, got apprehended shortly by the venue’s security team and sent to the hospital with “superficial injuries,” according to the LAPD. The unidentified man was on a stretcher with his elbow at an awkward angle in a video shared online purporting to show the attacker.
Chappelle was part of the Netflix Is a Joke: The Festival, which runs from April 28 to May 8 at various locations. Chappelle’s show took place in the Hollywood Bowl amphitheater, which also featured Chris Rock, Leslie Jones, and Jon Stewart.
