Jussie Smollett Receives His Sentence
Jussie Smollett was charged for filling fake police report. In December 2021, he appeared before a judge who declared him guilty of the offence. Six counts were filed against him and the jury found Smollett guilty of five.
Smollett came up with a planned false story last year. According to him, two people assaulted him as they shouted racist and homophobic chants on him when he was walking to buy a late-night Subway sandwich. He said his accusers used a bleached and noose to attack him.
However, it was later discovered that Smollett lied about the report he filed to the police. He did that probably to aid his declining career. Furthermore, it was found out that Smollett paid to Nigerians to help him make the situation look real. He paid them with a check in advance.
Yesterday, Thursday 10, Smollett was sentenced. He would spend 150 days in country jail, face 30 months of felony probation, though he may travel. Also, he will pay 25K in fines and 120K in restitutions.
However, Smollett still claim he wasn’t guilty of the charges against him. Furthermore, he said he has no intention to commit suicide and that if he dies in prison, he didn’t kill himself.
