Antonio Brown Wanted for Attempted Murder in Shocking Miami Shooting
Former NFL superstar Antonio Brown, once known for electrifying touchdown dances and jaw-dropping catches, is now making headlines for a very different reason an attempted murder charge that could change his life forever.
According to a warrant issued by the 11th Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County, Brown is now wanted for attempted second-degree murder with a firearm, a first degree felony that carries life-altering consequences. The charge stems from a violent altercation that erupted just outside a celebrity kickboxing event in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood on the night of May 16, 2025.
From Gridiron Greatness to Felony Charges
The warrant, which has been reviewed by The Times, outlines a chilling series of events involving the former seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver. Miami police were dispatched to the area shortly before midnight following reports of gunfire. By the time authorities arrived, Brown had already been detained by off-duty Florida Highway Patrol officers who were providing security at the event.
Multiple witnesses reportedly identified Brown as the shooter, claiming he was armed. However, when officers conducted a pat-down, they found him unarmed and due to the absence of any victims at that time Brown was released from the scene.
But new evidence soon emerged.
Caught on Camera: The Surveillance Footage
In the days that followed, Miami police reviewed surveillance footage from the area and uncovered disturbing visual evidence. The footage reportedly shows Antonio Brown striking a man with a closed fist, sparking a fight that quickly escalated and pulled in other individuals.
Although security managed to break up the initial altercation, Brown is then seen retrieving what appears to be a black firearm from the hip of one of the security staff members. He then runs toward the man he had just fought with gun in hand.
Even more damning, cell phone video obtained from social media allegedly shows Brown advancing on the man and firing two shots from only a few feet away. In the footage, the man can be seen ducking after the first gunshot, a move that likely saved his life.
Victim Comes Forward
On May 21, the alleged victim sat down for an interview with detectives and confirmed that Brown was the gunman. He told authorities that the two had known each other since 2022 and that he was likely grazed in the neck by one of the bullets.
He said he was in fear for his life and sought medical treatment at a hospital following the incident. With this statement in hand, authorities moved forward with the warrant, which calls for Brown to be held on a $10,000 bond and placed under house arrest once apprehended.
Brown’s Response: Denial and Deflection
One day after the incident, Brown appeared to respond in a May 17 post on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me. Contrary to some video circulating, police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me. I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED.”
Brown also indicated he was considering pressing charges against those who allegedly assaulted him.
Still, none of his posts since the arrest warrant was issued have addressed the felony charge directly. In fact, one of his most recent posts appears to show Brown riding a bicycle overseas, accompanied by the hashtag #lovefromthemiddleeast — suggesting he may not even be in the United States.
A History of Troubled Headlines
This isn’t Brown’s first brush with the law. In fact, the football world has watched the star’s post-NFL career spiral into chaos:
- In 2019, he was sued by a former trainer who accused him of sexual assault — a lawsuit that was ultimately settled out of court in 2021.
- In 2020, he pleaded no contest to burglary and battery after an altercation with a moving company. He received two years of probation, was required to complete anger management classes, 100 hours of community service, and undergo psychological evaluations.
- The NFL suspended him for eight games that same year for violating its personal conduct policy.
- In October 2023, Brown was arrested again, this time for failing to pay child support.
Then, of course, there’s his infamous shirtless exit from the field in 2022, during a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game — a symbolic moment that seemed to mark the beginning of a very public and very troubling unraveling.
A Legacy on the Brink
Once hailed as one of the most talented and dynamic players in NFL history, Antonio Brown’s name is now synonymous with controversy. What started as a glittering career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and culminated in a Super Bowl win with the Buccaneers has been followed by years of legal drama, disturbing behavior, and erratic social media posts.
Now, with a felony attempted murder charge looming, Brown faces his most serious challenge yet — a criminal trial that could send him to prison for decades. Whether his claim of self-defense holds up in court, or whether the surveillance and eyewitness evidence seals his fate, one thing is clear:
