Gunna Was Denied Bond Again And Will Remain In Custody Until His Trial In January

Young Thug, Gunna, Duke, and several other members of YSL Records were implicated in a lengthy Georgia RICO indictment on May 9. One of the first accused musicians to be detained was Young Thug, and shortly after the indictment was made public, Gunna also turned himself in. On May 23, Gunna’s request for bond was rejected by the court after the prosecution contended that the “pushin P” rapper is actually a known member of the YSL gang and a lethal leader inside the group.

Gunna went to court more than a month later for a bond review, but the DS4EVER artist was once again refused bond.

WSBTV reports that the Atlanta rapper virtually appeared in court today in an effort to be released on a “extreme bond that would include house arrest and recorded phone lines,” but prosecutors reportedly urged the judge to keep Gunna in jail due to his alleged leadership role in YSL so that he is unable to potentially intimidate witnesses.

Gunna has maintained his innocence throughout the entire ordeal, and on June 14 he tweeted an open letter asking for his release and the preservation of Black art.

“Growing up from where I come from in a marginalized neighborhood, I never dreamt my art would change my life and the lives of my loved ones,” Gunna stated in the letter. “We still pushing P: Power, Prayer, Progress, Passion, Productivity, Praise, Precision, Peace, Prosperity, Patience, Pride, and Persistence.”

The YSL Gang Indictment trial, in which Gunna, Young Thug, and other YSL artists will participate, is currently scheduled for January 9th, 2023.

Gunna Writes An Open Letter From Prison: “We Still Pushing P”

Gunna has penned a letter to his followers from a Fulton County jail, where he is being held on charges of conspiring to break Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Young Thug was arrested as part of a 56-count indictment against members of YSL, which included him.

Gunna begins his letter on a positive note: “2022 has been one of the best years of my life, despite this difficult situation. This year I had the whole world pushing P.”

He then goes on to reflect about his upbringing in a “marginalized neighborhood,” where he experienced Black people “attacked, hated, murdered, berated, belittled, silenced, judged, used and held captive.”

Despite his detention, Gunna maintains that the prosecution’s allegations against him are untrue, and that he believes he will be proved innocent.

“The picture that is being painted of me is ugly and untrue,” he said. “My fans know I love to celebrate life, I love my family, I love travel, I love music, I love my fans. I have all faith that God will grant me justice for the purity in my heart and the innocence of my actions.”

He then continued “Nothing will stop me from chasing my dreams, I won’t stop being a good person, even if some unnamed and unknown accusers want the world to see me as bad person. When I was free, I tried to be good and kind to the community around me and, when I am released, I will do the same thing all over again.”

“We still pushing P: Power, Prayer, Progress, Passion, Productivity, Praise, Precision, Pease, Prosperity, Patience, Pride and Persistence,”Gunna comes to a conclusion.

Young Thug Sends A Message To Fans From Detention At Hot 97 Summer Jam

Young Thug Sends A Message To Fans From Detention At Hot 97 Summer Jam

Young Thug was unable to attend Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2022 on Sunday (June 12) because to his recent RICO arrest, but the Atlanta rapper’s presence could still be felt inside MetLife Stadium.

Before the night’s main act, Fivio Foreign, took the stage, Hot 97 broadcasted a video inside the stadium including DJ Khaled, Polo G, and G Herbo expressing their support for Thugga and Gunna (who is also in jail on a RICO charge), as well as artistic expression in rap music.

Young Thug addressed his supporters from behind bars in a pre-recorded voice message at the end of the video. “I just want to say thank you to all of my friends and my family for coming out and supporting us,” he stated. “You know, your support during this time means a lot to us, ya know.”

Thug then urged his followers to sign the petition Rap Music on Trial: Protect Black Art, which was created last week by music executives Kevin Liles and Julie Greenwald. He also asked politicians to prohibit rap lyrics from being used in court to convict artists of alleged crimes.

Young Thug On Protecting Black Artists:

“You know, this isn’t just about me or YSL, I always use my music as a form of artistic expression, and now I see that Black artists and rappers don’t have that, you know, freedom,” he added. “Everybody please sign the ‘Protect Black Art’ petition and keep praying for us. I love you all.”

Last month, the New York Senate passed the “Rap Music on Trial” measure, which restricts the “admissibility of evidence of a defendant’s creative or artistic expression in a criminal proceeding.” However, as Thug and Gunna’s RICO lawsuit (filed in Fulton County, Georgia) demonstrates, the problem persists throughout the United States.

Fulton County District Attorney Reveals Threats She’s Received Over YSL Case

Every few days, new information about YSL’s case is released, and we close off this week with a statement from the Fulton County District Attorney about her safety. The RICO indictment states that Young Thug, Gunna, and 26 of his accused collaborators are participating in criminal gang activity. The group has been charged with murder, attempted murder, theft, witness tampering, intimidation, and other crimes, and while Thug and Gunna’s camp denies that YSL is a gang, prosecutors contend differently.

District Attorney Fani Willis spoke with WSB-TV about the case, including the necessity for her to beef up security as a result of the persistent threats she and her team have received since the case went public.

She acknowledged that she believes thfe threats are coming from fans rather than the workers.

“We don’t believe that these threats were directed by anyone that is in the YSL indictment,” Willis stated. “I would say that (threats are coming from) people that are very sympathetic, maybe admirers of YSL and people who are connected with them in some sense.”

Travis Scott Expresses His Love For Young Thug After Being Denied Bond

Since his incarceration, we’ve received a few updates on Young Thug. He appeared through Zoom during a court last week, where he was denied bond in the case. Thugger’s bond was denied by the judge, who claimed he would become a flight risk and was concerned about witness intimidation. However, we’ve recently received a number of upgrades. Karlae, his girlfriend, reportedly stated that he was in “excellent spirits,” which Lil Baby quickly reiterated.

Since his arrest last year, fans have been calling for Thug’s release, and his pals have kept his name alive while he’s been gone. Following news of Thug’s bond hearing, Travis Scott showed his love for him. On his Instagram Story, Scott posted two images alongside Thug. The first is a picture of the two of them traveling about in a car. He wrote, “My Bruddda.” In a second post, he released a screenshot from the music video for “FRANCHISE.”

On and off the record, the two rappers have developed a deep friendship over the years. They’ve worked together on songs like “Mamacita” and “Pick Up The Phone,” and in 2015, they went on the Days Before Rodeo tour together. They’ve collaborated on songs like “Bubbly” with Drake, “The London” with J. Cole, and “OUT WEST,” which went viral on TikTok. With Utopia rumored to be on its way, the two may be getting even hotter.

21 Savage Talks About Young Thug And Gunna’s RICO Arrest

21 Savage, another Atlanta rapper has now voiced his opinion on the My Expert Opinion show, speaking with Math Hoffa. “It’s a Catch-22,” the Issa Album artist says approximately a minute and a half into the video, referring to how tough it can be for some musicians to retain a relationship with their hometown after landing their big break.

“It’s like, I can make it and forget about my hood, and then my hood going to be trying to kill me. Or, I can look out for my hood, and I can catch a RICO,” he stated. “If you get on and turn your back on your hood, you’re a f*ck n*gga.”

Overall, Savage urged rappers to exercise caution when visiting venues they frequented prior to their fame. “They gonna take your jewelry, they gonna show the world, ‘He ain’t even like that. He’s a bitch.’ If you take care of your hood, you’re a f*cking leader.”

“If you want to be a n*gga hanging on the block, just know that you can get killed hanging on the block, rapper or not. That’s how it go,” the “Wheelie” hitmaker told Hoffa.

Young Thug is doing his best to stay in good spirits, according to the latest updates from both his ex, Jerika Karlae, and his good buddy, Lil Baby, from behind bars. Both he and Gunna are currently held without bond in Fulton County, leaving the world without YSL’s biggest names for the time being.

Young Thug Laughed At After Making A Request To Use The Bathroom

Young Thug Laughed At After Making A Request To Use The Bathroom

Young Thug is still behind bars as part of the YSL gang indictment. Thug, Gunna, and a slew of other YSL members were arrested just over a month ago as part of a massive RICO investigation involving YSL members. Prosecutors claim that Thug was the mastermind behind a number of crimes and that he instructed others to commit violent acts on YSL’s behalf. They’re claiming that Young Stoner Life was a gang, not a record label, a claim that has been debunked by many in the music industry.

Thug was again denied release for the second time yesterday, and he will now have to stay in jail until his trial. There’s a recorded video of the court hearing and one segment has gone popular on social media. This video reveals the inhumanity of prison and how, for the most part, prisoners’ legitimate concerns are not taken seriously.

Thug politely requests permission to use the restroom because he has been holding it in for a long time. The rapper appeared dejected about the situation, and people on the video call laughed at him as soon as he asked the question.

Thankfully, the judge sided with him in this case and told everyone to stop laughing. Thugger was then given a five-minute break to relieve himself.

The video is depressing, and it’s evident that Young Thug is going through a difficult time. For the time being, the lawsuit is just getting started, and it could take months or even a year to complete.

Young Thug Denied Bond In RICO Case After Prosecutors Call Him “One Of The Most Dangerous Men”

Young Thug will remain behind bars, despite Kevin Liles’ dramatic testimony on the witness stand. We just got word that 300 Entertainment CEO Kevin Liles was defending Thugger’s character in court. A RICO indictment named Thug and 27 others, including Gunna, alleging that YSL is a criminal street gang involved in theft, murder, and other illegal crimes. Thug is also accused of being involved in the stabbing of YFN Lucci in jail and the shooting of Lil Wayne’s tour bus, according to prosecutors.

“This whole thing that people are talking about, that’s not him. The Jeffrey I know? The Jeffrey I know would give me the clothes off of his back. The Jeffrey I know? I can give him my kids, he could give me his kids. That’s the Jeffrey I know,” Liles stated. He also spoke out against the use of lyrics as proof.

Despite the “Free Gunna” and “Free Young Thug” efforts, Thugger was reportedly denied bond. Thug, according to Judge Ural Glanville, constitutes a menace and should remain behind bars. Prosecutors said he’s “King Slime” and one of “the most dangerous persons here.”

Rappers are recently paying close attention to this case for good measure, especially since lyrics are set to be a big part of it. In The Shade Room’s comment area, The Game chimed in with his comments, labeling the prosecutors’ remarks “some sucka sh*t.”

Cordae Demands Young Thug And Gunna's Release Following YSL's Indictment

Cordae Demands Young Thug And Gunna’s Release Following YSL’s Indictment

Cordae is campaigning for the release of Young Thug, Gunna, and the other YSL members named in the group’s enormous 56-count indictment issued last month. On Wednesday, the rapper from From a Birds Eye View tweeted his support for YSL.

“Free the Whole YSL Family! They showed me more genuine love than damn near anybody!” In his first post, Cordae wrote.

He then added: “Protect Black Art! Also Using Lyrics against someone on trial is nuts! It’s a form of self expression that shouldn’t be used in a literal sense especially in a court of law!!!”

On May 9th, YSL’s 28 members were charged. Following a raid on Thug’s home, he was charged with conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and participation in criminal street gang activity. Gunna is charged with one count of RICO conspiracy.

Several lyrics from songs by the musicians were part of evidence in the indictment. Several songs from YSL’s Slime Language 2 compilation album, due out in 2020, were among them, including “Take it to Trial,” “Ski,” and “Slatty.”

Cordae isn’t the only one who thinks rap lyrics should be used as proof. Bobby Shmurda supported a bill in New York that would limit their use in court.
