The Weeknd is the most nominated artist at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards with a total of 17 nominations. Doja Cat with 14 nominations.
The finalists for the awards were unveiled on Friday in 62 categories. On May 15, the show will air on NBC and Peacock from Las Vegas.
The Weeknd received nominations for top artist, top 100 artist, and top streaming songs artist, while his “Save Your Tears (Remix)” duet with Ariana Grande is up for six awards. Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and Drake, the show’s most decorated winner with 29 overall awards, are also nominated for top artist.
Top Artists Nominated For The Prestigious Awards
Doja Cat is up for top 100 song, top collaboration, and top viral song. She recently won her first Grammy Award for her collaboration “Kiss Me More” with SZA.
Rodrigo, a first-time finalist, is a finalist in 13 categories, including outstanding new artist, top female artist, and top radio songs artist, continuing her run of being an awards show favorite.
For his song “STAY” featuring The Kid LAROI, Justin Bieber is also nominated for 13 accolades, including top male artist, top Hot 100 artist, and top streaming song.
The Weeknd And Ye: Strong Contender, Swift and Drake Lock Horns
Ye, formerly Kanye West, is a finalist in 13 categories and a strong favorite in the Christian/gospel categories. Four of his songs are nominated for best gospel song and top Christian song, and his album “Donda” is nominated for top rap album, top gospel album, and top Christian album.
Swift has a chance to break Drake’s record for most victories on the show. With 25 previous wins, the pop star is in second place and is up for seven prizes this year. Drake, on the other hand, is nominated for 11 awards, including best Billboard 200 album, best rap artist, and best streaming song artist.
