Tweeters Criticized the Nomination of Jack Harlow in this Year’s BET Awards
It was hot and buzzing asTweeter subscribers and music fans expressed their bitterness and concerns over the nomination and of Jack Harlow who is a White Hip Hop Artist. BET was coined from the overall concept pf the annual event which means “Black Entertainment Television.” They even went further as the events theme persistent the black theme by celebrating the black woman. Therefore, according to the fans they saw no logic why a White artist was considered for the nomination in the first place.
Tweets flowed one after another asking why and how could this happen and how relevant it was to the black theme. According to them it was making no sense and out of context especially with the black theme. The fans criticized the management of the award for allowing a White Rapper to contest for an award meant for the black community. Jack Harlow ha been rocking the airwaves with his track “What’s poppin” which to a large extent helped him to be nominated and receive the award on Sunday, June 27th.
The attacks were similar to Eminem’s after receiving a nomination back in 2001 for his “Stan” Video featuring Dido. He further went on to receive nominations in 2003, 2010 and 2012. However, he never managed to clinch any award. Eminem since his first nomination seemed more welcomed in the annual event like a black artist although he IS White. Compared to Eminem, Jack Harlow is yet to gain influence like Eminem did and he was even happy to step on the red carpet leave alone being trophyless. Fans kept on complaining why he got so many nominations while great artists like for instance NAS scooped zero for the much coveted awards.
BET Awards is an annual event renown for rewarding and recognizing black talents in the entertainment industry.
