Drake is well known for his intense affection for Toronto. The 35-year-old routinely demonstrates his love for the city where he was reared, as evidenced by the huge OVO Festival celebration this year (though many people were astounded by the hefty ticket prices).
After taking a few years off owing to the COVID-19 epidemic, Drizzy resurrected his beloved festival for 2022, which began yesterday (July 28) evening with an All Canadian North Starts concert at HISTORY, the 6ix venue opened by the Scorpion rapper and Live Nation last year.
Along with performers like Kardinal Offishall, Choclair, Saukrates, Glenn Lewis, Jully Black, and Maestro Fresh Wes who were originally scheduled to perform, Champagne Papi upped the ante by inviting “Promiscuous” hitmaker Nelly Furtado to perform some of her most well-known songs.
“Right now, I need you to sing as loud as you possibly can because this right here took a lot!” Drake said to the crowd. “This next person’s music changed my life so much. I love her with all my heart.”
Even while yesterday night’s performance was unquestionably memorable, OVO Fest performances have only just begun. This weekend, Young Money will reunite for the first time in ten years when Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne perform, while Lil Baby and Chris Brown will bring their One Of Them Ones tour to the stage.
