Kanye West And Vory Collaborates On Pusha T Approved ‘Daylight’
Kanye West teams up with Donda collaborator Vory on his new single, “Daylight.” Kanye contributes a verse and handles the hook on the track, which was out on Tuesday (May 31) and features Ojivolta, 88-Keys, Ratatat’s Evan Mast, and Ye himself on production.
Vory’s debut album, Lost Souls, is expected to be out on Friday, and “Daylight” is set to appear on it (June 3). The song was previously featured on Kanye West’s Donda album’s early tracklists and was performed at one of the album’s Las Vegas listening parties.
On Monday (May 30), Pusha T came to Instagram Stories to compliment “Daylight” and Vory’s upcoming album.
“@vory You know #Daylight might still be my favorite song in the world,” he said. “can’t wait til the world here’s your album. Congrats.”
Vory appeared on Kanye West’s Donda album in August 2021 on the songs “No Child Left Behind” and “God Breathed,” as well as having his own song “Lord Lift Me Up” on Donda 2. Vory discussed his friendship with Kanye West and the development of “No Child Left Behind” in an interview with XXL magazine in November.
Vory Discussed His Relationship With Ye
“We understand each other,” Vory stated. “Our vibe is crazy, though. Even his childhood friends are like, ‘You would think y’all have known each other for years.’ With ‘No Child Left Behind,’ [Kanye] had an idea that was basically, ‘Never abandon your child.’ That’s what he was trying to run with, and so that was a whole different song. And then I was like, ‘Nah bro, say something [that] means the same thing, but it’s a different saying. More of a quote.’”
Kanye West advised him to avoid gimmicks in favor of developing a great discography that speaks for itself, he said.
“I was having a talk with Kanye and he was like, ‘Bro, it’s more powerful that way. You’re gaining a real fan base that way,’” he explained.
