R. Kelly Says He Has No Financial Means For Lawsuit
R. Kelly claims to be “completely broke,” which means he can no longer afford to purchase transcripts of his court hearings. The 54-year-old singer also says that he has gained a lot of weight in prison, so that he needs new clothes that he can no longer afford. This reports ‘Page Six’.

“His finances have shrunk considerably and that is having a significant impact. I have asked the court to send us daily copies of everything that is discussed, but you have to pay for that. He also needs new clothes to look good in court. appear, but he no longer fits any of his suits,” Kelly’s attorney Devereaux Cannick said.

The court has allowed prosecutors to bring evidence that the singer had “sexual contact” with Aaliyah, who was 13 at the time, whom he married in 1994 when she was only 15 years old. The couple did this under false pretenses, by giving the singer a fake ID. Aaliyah and Kelly divorced soon after their marriage came to an end, after which the singer unfortunately passed away in 2001 due to a plane crash.
The jury selection will start on Monday 9 August and the case is expected to start on Wednesday 18 August. The lawyer is looking forward to it with great anticipation. “My client is getting a little tired of all the accusations against him. He knows the truth and because of that it is very frustrating for him to be constantly scapegoated by the media. But he is confident that the truth eventually emerges.”
