Metro Boomin Shares OG Version of Drake and 21 Savage’s ‘Knife Talk’

The original version of the song “Knife Talk,” co-written by Metro Boomin and 21 Savage, that was later acquired by Drake has been made available.

On Tuesday, January 3, Young Metro shared a link to the original file on Twitter, which just includes the Project Pat sample and 21 Savage. The Blood Gang commander, who issues a string of growling threats and villainous boasts, delivers a lengthy second verse in the original version.

“You sneak dissin, you gon get some teeth missing, you weak bitches, we raw strip and kill snitches, your bitch digging, she is digging all this damn drip and I’m chef sinkin, I pink slip, the ink different,” he raps.

The manacing track, which was originally titled “Gang Shit,” was supposed to appear on Metro and 21’s 2020 collaborative album Savage Mode 11.

In September 2021, only two days before Certified Lover Boy’s arrival, Drake received “Gang crap” and used it to transform the Metro Boomin beat into what is now known as “Knife Talk,” as 21 Savage stated on DJ Akademiks‘ “Off the Record” podcast.

Still on the news  about Drake

Project pat’s feature came by way of vocal sample lifted from Juicy J’s 2017 track “Feed the Streets” featuring the Memphis rap pioneer as well as Asap Rocky.

“Knife Talk” would go on reach No.4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped power Certified Lover Boy to a record breaking debut on Spotify and Apple music.

With 613,000 album equivalent sales in its first week, the album also topped the Billboard 200.

Moreover, all 15 of the album’s tracks reached the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with two of them reaching the top 10. “Creeping,” featuring “The Weeknd (No. 5),” “The Future,” and “Chris Brown,” helped Superhero (Heroes and Villians on No.8).

While Drake was absent from Heroes and Villians, a leaked version of “Trance” with Travis Scott and the recently imprisoned Young Thug featured a verse from 6 God.

21 Savage attack on Wack 100 is complete when 21 Savage criticized Wack for supporting Tekashi 6ix9ine in August 2021, Wack became enraged and confronted him via Clubhouse.

“Listen to me bro, I’ve met you before, you’ve been real humble,” Wack told Savage. “Me and you both know, n*gga, if you was standing in front of me right now, you wouldn’t have that energy … N*gga, I’ll beat your motherf*ckin’ lil’ ass … You lil’ bitty ass boy. I will beat your lil’ ass, little bitty ass boy… It’s cool that you don’t agree with what I’m saying but n*gga, I’m not no rapper, n*gga. I will f*ck you up.”

Since then, tensions have not subsided as Wack recently accused Savage of being a snitch and questioned why he hasn’t been arrested or deported.

Wack says he will beat the crap out of Savage in the latest Clubhouse audio, and that his face tattoos don’t make him tough; rather, they just make him look like a n***a with some ink on his face.

21 Savage recently approached Rap manager Wack 100 in reaction to Wack’s earlier claim that the Atlanta rapper is a “snitch,” which 21 Savage adamantly disputes.

21 Savage Reveals How Meek Mill & Jay-Z Helped Him Out Of ICE Custody

There were a few insights from 21 Savage’s conversation with Math Hoffa and Co. that stood out. We’ve covered the Atlanta-based rapper’s comments on Young Thug, Gunna, and their suspected YSL associates being hit with RICO charges, as well as parts in the lengthy piece where 21 talks NBA YoungBoy and Lil Durk’s ongoing dispute and whether or not he believes he could assist stop the issue.

Another event that drew attention was when 21 Savage discussed his arrest by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in 2019. Many people were surprised to hear that Savage was born in London and was not a US citizen at the time.

The rapper spent a week in a detention institution before getting out on bond. ICE officials attempted to portray Savage as a criminal who was avoiding the proper chain of command in order to remain in the United States at the time. However, the rapper’s lawyers quickly rebutted, claiming that they had been trying to renew his Visa for years and that the government was well aware of his situation.

Meek Mill and Jay-Z were crucial in 21 Savage’s release from custody, he said in an interview with Math Hoffa.

“They detained me ’cause they said I had felony conviction, but the felony conviction got dismissed,” Savage spoke about his 2014 case. “And I called Meek while I was in jail and told Meek, ‘Bro, I just got locked up.’ He called Jay-Z, and Jay-Z put a lawyer on my case.” He added, “[Jay-Z] ain’t just doing that sh*t for anybody.”

21 Savage Talks About Young Thug And Gunna’s RICO Arrest

21 Savage, another Atlanta rapper has now voiced his opinion on the My Expert Opinion show, speaking with Math Hoffa. “It’s a Catch-22,” the Issa Album artist says approximately a minute and a half into the video, referring to how tough it can be for some musicians to retain a relationship with their hometown after landing their big break.

“It’s like, I can make it and forget about my hood, and then my hood going to be trying to kill me. Or, I can look out for my hood, and I can catch a RICO,” he stated. “If you get on and turn your back on your hood, you’re a f*ck n*gga.”

Overall, Savage urged rappers to exercise caution when visiting venues they frequented prior to their fame. “They gonna take your jewelry, they gonna show the world, ‘He ain’t even like that. He’s a bitch.’ If you take care of your hood, you’re a f*cking leader.”

“If you want to be a n*gga hanging on the block, just know that you can get killed hanging on the block, rapper or not. That’s how it go,” the “Wheelie” hitmaker told Hoffa.

Young Thug is doing his best to stay in good spirits, according to the latest updates from both his ex, Jerika Karlae, and his good buddy, Lil Baby, from behind bars. Both he and Gunna are currently held without bond in Fulton County, leaving the world without YSL’s biggest names for the time being.

21 Savage Speaks On NBA YoungBoy & Lil Durk Feud, "Ain't No Trying" To End It

21 Savage Speaks On NBA YoungBoy & Lil Durk Feud, “Ain’t No Trying” To End It

21 Savage Speaks On NBA YoungBoy & Lil Durk Feud, “Ain’t No Trying” To End It

21 Savage is speaking out after being one of numerous artists dissed in NBA YoungBoy’s tune “I Hate YoungBoy” a few months ago. As his federal prosecution grinds forward, the Louisiana rapper has been under house arrest in Utah. However, he released the track in February, which features Lil Durk, the rapper’s fiancée India Royale, Durk’s father, the late King Von, Gucci Mane, Lil Baby, the 4PF crew, and 21. It was supposedly in response to Durk’s “AHHH HA,” in which the Chicago rapper allegedly took verbal aim at YoungBoy, prompting this retaliation.

21 Savage was asked about the ongoing beef between former friends Lil Durk and NBA YoungBoy in an interview with DJ Akademiks last Fall, prior to this exchange. Many artists will not work with YoungBoy due to their devotion to Durk, according to 21 at the time.

21 Talks On Lil Durk And YoungBoy Beef

“You don’t have to pick sides,” he stated as at that time. “But you gotta be a certain type of artist to be in the middle.” Math Hoffa was recently approached by 21 Savage and asked if he had taken any steps to put the feud to rest.

“Nah, hell nah,” he said. Sometimes, according to Savage, situations are too far gone for others to interject. “Certain sh*t you can’t even—you don’t try… Certain sh*t, you just know, ain’t no trying.”

There have been numerous pleas for peace in the Rap world, and it appears that the number of musicians who have died is increasing tremendously in recent years. We don’t know if those messages have reached NBA YoungBoy and Lil Durk, but their friends want them to put their legal issues behind them.
