J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival To Return In Spring 2023

Dreamville Festival to Raleigh, North Carolina, on April 1 and 2, 2023, was confirmed by J. Cole and his Dreamville crew on Wednesday.

After a three-year break, the festival returned this year and will once more fill Raleigh’s Dorothea Dix Park with musical performances by Cole’s favorite musicians and collaborators. 80,000 people from all over the world attended the event in the spring, which featured a wide range of activities, regional merchants, food trucks, and artists from the broader Triangle area. Notably, the event this year had a positive economic impact on Raleigh and Wake County over USD 6.7 million.

Dreamville Festival wants to keep growing and building off the success of the expanded two-day event this year. Our team is excited to reunite with our Dreamville family from around the world next spring,” said Dreamville Festival President Adam Roy in a statement. “Day ones, JID fans, Ari fans, music fans, everyone is welcome. Consider this your personal invite. Come through, you won’t want to miss Dreamville 2023.”

The “No Role Modelz” rapper’s Dreamville Festival made its premiere in 2018 with a roster that included SZA, Big Sean, Young Thug, and numerous more renowned performers. The festival’s debut edition did not take place until April of the following year because Hurricane Florence forced the cancellation of the opening event. The third iteration of the Dreamville Festival will take place in 2023 because the COVID epidemic also forced the cancellation of the festival’s 2020 edition.

Lil Baby Sacrifices Grit For Prestige Raps In "IT'S Only Me"

Lil Baby Sacrifices Grit For Prestige Raps In “IT’S Only Me”

Lil Baby has probably carved out his own niche among all the musicians that have been regarded as Young Thug’s protégés. Although Baby’s flow has echoes of Thugger’s warbling drawl, Baby is far more grounded and straightforward than Thugger, who has spent years operating on his own wavelength as a rebellious experimenter. This has helped Baby become one of the best storytellers in the rap game.

Early skeptics labeled Lil Baby and his contemporaries as “mumble rap,” but Baby uses his voice as an expressive tool that begs for attentive attention: “You gotta really pay attention, I’m not mumbling,” as he says on “Heyy.” Baby expressed a heightened sense of perspective in songs like 2020’s “The Bigger Picture,” expressing his uneasy awareness of the precarity of his existence as a Black man in a racist police state and his awareness of the potential influence of his growing platform to bring about change.

Lil Baby continues to develop as a lyricist and a stylist with the release of his most recent solo album, It’s Only Me, a title that is appropriate for an artist whose music frequently feels so aching and lonely. Lil Baby has struggled to hold on to some of the authentic perspectives that made him so endearing; many of the issues Baby now discusses in songs like “From Now On” amount to the unrelatable struggles of a very rich man.

Baby may now create prestige rap albums, but his work is still superior to the majority of mainstream rap albums because he hasn’t fully lost his identity.

Young Thug Participates In Kanye West's "Cut Ties" Movement

Young Thug Participates In Kanye West’s “Cut Ties” Movement

Young Thug hasn’t missed a beat when it comes to breaking news despite being imprisoned. Due to Kanye West’s anti-Semitic rants, big corporations have been breaking their ties with him for the past month. Following the rapper’s most recent contentious outbursts, businesses including Adidas, Gap, and Foot Locker decided to sever their connections with him.

On social media, the news of Kanye’s corporate collapse has generated several memes, including one in which rappers joke that they’re breaking up with themselves, as their alter egos.

From 50 Cent and Jadakiss to N.O.R.E, everyone joined the snarky trend. By tweeting that he has canceled himself, Young Thug is the most recent rapper to join the trend.

“JEFFREY HAS REPORTEDLY CUT TIES WITH YOUNG THUG”

From Cobb County Jail, he tweeted. Thugga has previously communicated from behind jail. The “Best Friend” rapper tweeted about his supposed girlfriend Mariah The Scientist several times back in September. Additionally, he sent Michael Phelps, an Olympic swimmer, a strange tweet asking for guidance on swimming. The YSL rapper encouraged Lil Baby to release It’s Only Me earlier this month, 3 days before the album was supposed to be published. If you don’t drop in three days, we aren’t bruddas, says Wham.

Even Ye participated in the viral Kanye meme trend on social media. He posted a bogus news story about himself on Instagram after leaving it for a while, claiming that “Ye has reportedly cut relations with Kanye West.” The Yeezy designer captioned the photo, “Had to cut ties bro.”

The craze follows Kanye’s rumored closure of DONDA Academy for the rest of the year following his divisive statements regarding the Jewish community. In addition to closing, the high school’s basketball team will not be allowed to participate in a forthcoming competition.

“While we are firm in our reasoning for this decision, it does not diminish our heartache and regret for Donda’s hard-working athletes who will lose out the most as a result of Kanye’s actions,” the tournament said in a statement. “Unfortunately, we cannot in good conscience host an organization founded and directed by Mr. West at our events.”

Young Thug Issues Ultimatum to Lil Baby Regarding “It’s Only Me” Album From Jail

Lil Baby has been given an ultimatum by Young Thug over the release of his upcoming album It’s Only Me while he is in jail.

The now imprisoned rapper instructed Baby to release his new album this week on Twitter on Monday (10/10). If not, their friendship can suffer. In a tweet, he wrote, “Wham if you don’t drop in 3 days, we ain’t bruddas

It’s Only Me by Lil Baby is slated for release on Friday, October 14 through Quality Control Music/Motown Records.

The project, which has 23 songs and features Future, Pooh Shiesty, EST Gee, Nardo Wick, Jeremih, Rylo Rodriguez, and Fridayy as guests, was made public earlier this week.

A song called “Never Hating” features Young Thug, who has been detained since May on racketeering allegations related to a RICO indictment against his YSL collective.

Lil Baby and Young Thug have a close bond, and it was Thug that paid Baby to keep out of trouble so that Baby could begin his rap career.

I was in the neighborhood and he was like, ‘What are you doing in the neighborhood?’ I was like, ‘You already know what I’m doing,'” Lil Baby told The Breakfast Club in 2020.

“So he was like, ‘Okay, how much money are you going to make today?’ I was probably going to make something like $7,000 or maybe $10,000. He just went, “I’ll give you that—just go to the studio.” Shit went like that. “

Lil Baby isn’t prepared to abdicate the throne, despite the fact that his enemies are eagerly awaiting the end of his reign. The Georgia hitmaker has been on a roll for a while, and as he gets ready to drop his new album, Baby is implying that he’s always been a GOAT regardless of his age.

Lil Baby started the week off right today (October 10) by sharing a new song, “Heyy,” along with a music video. He also disappeared from the tracklist for his upcoming album, It’s Only Me, shortly after its release.

GOAT discussions are common in hip hop. Mt. Rushmore is depicted in the picture, but Lil Baby is each of the faces at different points in his life. A new era for the Rap sensation is being planned now that the public has a fresh view on Baby’s ascent in Hip Hop as a result of his well-received documentary.

Young Thug, Nardo Wick, Rylo Rodriguez, Pooh Shiesty, and other artists, including newcomer Fridayy, have featured on this most recent 23-track CD. Fans of Baby already anticipate that this song will quickly reach the top of the charts.

Young Thug Offers Kanye West 100 Acres Of Land "Free Of Charge"

Young Thug Offers Kanye West 100 Acres Of Land “Free Of Charge”

Young Thug desires to collaborate with Kanye West, even while he is incarcerated. We are already aware that Young Thug is facing significant federal charges after being identified in a Georgia-based RICO indictment. However, his supporters insist that YSL, or Young Stoner Life, is simply a record label that has been targeted because they are young Black professionals who are predominating in the music industry. The rapper has been accused of being the leader of a criminal gang operation known as YSL or Young Slime Life.

Thugger’s trial is scheduled to take place somewhere in the spring of 2023, and as he has repeatedly been granted bond, the only communication he has with the outside world is through his legal team and the rare social media post.

This week, he captured social media’s attention by tweeting Michael Phelps and enquiring as to whether the Olympic gold champion could swim 100 miles from the open sea to land. Given that Kanye West is once again attacking everyone online, Young Thug has returned with a message for the Donda icon. Phelps appeared to be fairly confident that he could succeed.

“@Kanyewest I got over 100 acres. However many you need they’re yours free of charge. On GOD,” a message on Thugger’s Story read. Ye posted what appeared to be a screenshot of a text message exchange with A$AP Bari. “We gotta get thug outta jail,” Bari stated. In response, West claimed that he had sent something to his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, who had been pursuing a legal career. “FREE YSL,” West captioned.

Young Thug Consults Michael Phelps For Advice On Swimming 100 Miles Offshore

Young Thug joked about trying to escape from prison when he tweeted on Wednesday asking 23-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps for tips on how to swim back to land from 100 miles out to sea. In connection with the most recent 56-count RICO indictment against his Young Slime Life record company, Thug is currently in custody awaiting trial on a number of crimes.

“I’m talking with my roommate and we’re wondering if you could swim 100 miles from the middle of the ocean back to shore,” Thug mentioned Michael Phelps in a tweet.

“U tryna escape,” In reaction to the post, one fan wrote.

Yet another joked: “Oh nah they moved him to Alcatraz.”

Phelps has not yet replied to the tweet.

It was revealed earlier this month that Thug’s trial date would be January 9, 2023. The prosecution’s use of rap lyrics will be a very contentious aspect of the trial.

At a news conference, Fulton County District Attorney Fanni Willis recently defended the use of music in court, saying, “If you decide to admit your crimes over a beat, I’m gon’ use it… People can continue to be angry about it, [but] I have some legal advice: Don’t confess to crimes on rap lyrics if you do not want them used — or, at least, get out of my county.”

Boosie Badazz Thinks The Industry Is Moving Away From Gangsta Rappers

Boosie Badazz Thinks The Industry Is Moving Away From Gangsta Rappers

Rappers are making sure their lawyers are prepared for action as news has emerged that Atlanta prosecutors are planning more RICO cases. We have followed the latest developments in the explosive case involving YSL, which led to the detention and prosecution of over two dozen individuals. However, the D.A.’s office has confirmed that additional indictments are imminent. These suspects have included Young Thug and Gunna, who are still detained and continue to vehemently deny all charges brought against them.

Boosie recently gave one of many interviews to VladTV, during which he discussed the changes taking place in hip-hop and how the genre seemed to be moving away from gangsta rap culture and toward a less contentious sound.

“They basically doing all this to separate gangbanging from Rap,” Boosie stated. “They gon’ basically tell you, you can’t be a gangbanger and Rap… I’m not a gang banger, but I think it’s a bad thing for them. Gangbangers. Because what they’re preaching about, they’re not gonna let happen. The power that bring it, they’re not gonna let it stay. The impact you’re having on people, they’re not gonna it stay. You’re gonna have to be a fake rapper.”

“If they see you goin’ that way, they’re gonna stop you,” he added. “That’s why [they said], ‘We’re gonna get YSL.’ Who everybody lookin’ up to. And that’s the way they can do it with the gangbanging thing. That’s a tool they got right now, and it’s become successful, but I want all them boys free. I want all them boys at home. I just tell ’em, get close with God, man. Get close with God in the motherf*cka. You never know.”

Gunna Was Denied Bond Again And Will Remain In Custody Until His Trial In January

Gunna Was Denied Bond Again And Will Remain In Custody Until His Trial In January

Young Thug, Gunna, Duke, and several other members of YSL Records were implicated in a lengthy Georgia RICO indictment on May 9. One of the first accused musicians to be detained was Young Thug, and shortly after the indictment was made public, Gunna also turned himself in. On May 23, Gunna’s request for bond was rejected by the court after the prosecution contended that the “pushin P” rapper is actually a known member of the YSL gang and a lethal leader inside the group.

Gunna went to court more than a month later for a bond review, but the DS4EVER artist was once again refused bond.

WSBTV reports that the Atlanta rapper virtually appeared in court today in an effort to be released on a “extreme bond that would include house arrest and recorded phone lines,” but prosecutors reportedly urged the judge to keep Gunna in jail due to his alleged leadership role in YSL so that he is unable to potentially intimidate witnesses.

Gunna has maintained his innocence throughout the entire ordeal, and on June 14 he tweeted an open letter asking for his release and the preservation of Black art.

“Growing up from where I come from in a marginalized neighborhood, I never dreamt my art would change my life and the lives of my loved ones,” Gunna stated in the letter. “We still pushing P: Power, Prayer, Progress, Passion, Productivity, Praise, Precision, Peace, Prosperity, Patience, Pride, and Persistence.”

The YSL Gang Indictment trial, in which Gunna, Young Thug, and other YSL artists will participate, is currently scheduled for January 9th, 2023.

Gunna Writes An Open Letter From Prison: “We Still Pushing P”

Gunna has penned a letter to his followers from a Fulton County jail, where he is being held on charges of conspiring to break Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Young Thug was arrested as part of a 56-count indictment against members of YSL, which included him.

Gunna begins his letter on a positive note: “2022 has been one of the best years of my life, despite this difficult situation. This year I had the whole world pushing P.”

He then goes on to reflect about his upbringing in a “marginalized neighborhood,” where he experienced Black people “attacked, hated, murdered, berated, belittled, silenced, judged, used and held captive.”

Despite his detention, Gunna maintains that the prosecution’s allegations against him are untrue, and that he believes he will be proved innocent.

“The picture that is being painted of me is ugly and untrue,” he said. “My fans know I love to celebrate life, I love my family, I love travel, I love music, I love my fans. I have all faith that God will grant me justice for the purity in my heart and the innocence of my actions.”

He then continued “Nothing will stop me from chasing my dreams, I won’t stop being a good person, even if some unnamed and unknown accusers want the world to see me as bad person. When I was free, I tried to be good and kind to the community around me and, when I am released, I will do the same thing all over again.”

“We still pushing P: Power, Prayer, Progress, Passion, Productivity, Praise, Precision, Pease, Prosperity, Patience, Pride and Persistence,”Gunna comes to a conclusion.
