The Weeknd Postpones His Sold-Out Los Angeles performance Three Songs Into His Set
The Weeknd’s performance at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium on night one went wonderfully well, but yesterday night was his second time performing in the City of Angels, and he was unable to say the same (September 3).
According to the NY Post, Abel Tesfaye had only performed three songs when he abruptly stopped performing in the middle of his Starboy smash, “Can’t Feel My Face,” and left the stage.
As another song started, the 32-year-old came back to the audience to address them, explaining that he had lost his voice and wouldn’t be able to complete the performance. The Weeknd promised the disappointed crowd, who didn’t hold back on letting out their jeers, “You’ll get your money back.” But I’ll do a show real soon for you guys, he assured them.
“You know how much this kills me right now. I’m sorry. I love you so much,” Before making his final exit, the “Glass Table Girls” singer comforted the crowd one last time as fans applauded him.
Shortly later, The Weeknd posted a statement about the cancellation of the event on social media.. “My voice went out during the first song and I’m devastated,” he wrote.
“Felt it go and my heart dropped. My deepest apologies to my fans here. I promise I’ll make it up to you with a new date.”
Although it has been reported that The Weeknd’s voice sounded raspy when he addressed the crowd, it is yet unknown what specifically caused his vocal problems.
